Matjucha, 200 Free Relay Win Bronze Medals on Day Two of NE10 Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Andrew Matjucha won an individual medal for the second straight day, and the Falcons 200 free relay team took bronze in a nailbiter on day two of the Northeast 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Championship.

Matjucha won bronze in the 500 free a day after he was the bronze medalist in the 1000 free. His time of 4:43.13 was less than two seconds off of silver medalist Rafael Kowal from Saint Michael's and was a season best for him.

Freshman Daniel Ivanchikov was also in the 500 finals and finished 7th at 4:46.87.

The 200 free relay was one of the closest races of the meet so far, with just .42 seconds separating gold and bronze. Bentley's team was comprised of Danny Lehr swimming leadoff, Carter Ferrara the second leg, Wellington Chen the third leg and Tyler Marzano the anchor.

The team's time of 1:23.78 saw them come in just behind Saint Rose (1:23.36) and Southern Connecticut (1:23.66) for bronze.

The 400 medley relay team missed a medal by less than a second and came in fourth place. Lehr, Kenneth Ryu, Joey Twomey and Ferrara swam 3:26.36 to come in just behind Southern Connecticut's team in third at 3:25.50.

The 50 free saw Marzano swim a season best 21.50 to finish in 8th place, but less than one second out of the medal places.

The 3-meter diving finals saw Owen Angkatavanich finish 5th with a score of 232.30.

As a team the Falcons finished the day in second place with 287 points. Southern Connecticut is in first place with 399.5.
