Ferrara Named NE10 Men’s Swimmer of the Week; Angkatavanich and Lehr Also Honored for Sweep of Awards

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's swimming and diving team swept the Northeast-10 weekly awards after a dominant showing against Bridgewater State last Thursday.

Carter Ferrara was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week, Owen Angkatavanich the Men's Diver of the Week and Daniel Lehr the Men's Rookie of the Week.

A sophomore, this is Ferrara's first NE10 weekly award. He won both the 100 and 200 freestyle and helped the 200 medley relay team to a victory in Bentley's 186-89 triumph over Bridgewater State. He touched first in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.64 and in the 100 free his time was 49.16. He swam the anchor for the 200 medley relay team, which won with a time of 1:37.42.

His time in the 200 free was a season best.

Angkatavanich is the Men's Diver of the Week for the third time this season. He posted a season best score in the 1 meter dive (six dives) at 214.80. That was the 4th best score in the NE10 so far this season. He also had a season best in the 3 meter dive (six dives) at 174.51 for the 3rd best score in the NE10 this season.

Lehr took first in the 100 backstroke at 54.24, which was three seconds better than the second place swimmer. He swam a personal best in the 200 free at 1:53.04 and swam the lead off leg for the winning 200 medley relay team.

Bentley's next competition is the Northeast-10 Championships from February 15-18 in Worcester, on the campus of WPI.
