Falcons Soar Past Pace 133-95

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A number of strong performances saw the Bentley men's swimming and diving team defeat Pace on the road 133-95 on Saturday.

Sophomore Leighton Wielgoszinski won two races to help power the Falcons to the victory. He won the 1000 free in 10:10.02 and the 200 IM in 2:04.68.

The Falcons claimed the top-four spots in the 200 IM. Daniel Ivanchikov, Eddy Erofeyev and Kenneth Ryu took the second-fourth spots behind Wielgoszinski.

Bentley's first win of the meet came in the 200 medley relay. Matt Walden, Ryu, Joey Twomey and Wellington Chen touched first in 1:41.53, edging out Pace's team by 29 one hundredths of a second.

The 200 yard free saw the Falcons finish first, second and third. Andrew Matjucha touched first in 1:49.50, followed by Walden (1:53.68) and Jakub Zukowski (1:54.54).

Carter Ferrara won an exciting race in the 50 free. His time of 22.73 edged out Pace's Michael Savchuk by 22 one hundredths of a second.

The 100 fly again saw a first, second and third sweep by the Falcons. Danny Lehr touched first (54.23), followed by Twomey (56.00) and Peter Epp (57.29).

Ferrara's second victory of the meet came in the 100 back when he touched first with a time of 55.26.

Matjucha claimed his second victory of the meet in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.76. The next two finishers were Falcons, Walden and Stephen Calabro.

Bentley improved to 7-1 on the season in dual meets. They host Roger Williams on January 18 for the first of three straight home meets.
