Bentley Finishes Fourth at Gompei Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley swimming and diving teams finished in fourth at the Gompei Invitational after the third and final day of competition on Sunday.

With combined scores from the men's and women's teams, the Falcons amassed 3,490 points. Bryant University took first place, followed by WPI and Springfield.

John Zhang capped his weekend with a third place finish in the 100 IM. His time of 52.69 is the second fastest in school history and just short of the school record of 52.24.

Zhang broke two school records this weekend, in the 200 breast stroke and 100 back stroke.

Freshman Matt Walden was sixth in the 200 back with a time of 1:58.07.

Andrew Matjucha was 5th in the 1650 free and Leighton Wielgoszinski was 6th.

The Falcons have now completed competition for the semester. They resume on Jan. 9 at Saint Michael's.
