Zhang Sets School Mark in 100 Backstroke on Second Day of Gompei

WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley maintained its spot in third place after the second day of competition of the WPI Gompei Invitational.

Freshman John Zhang set his second school record of the weekend. On Saturday he broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.12, breaking the previous record of 52.00, set by Chris Vukas in 2017. 

In the same race freshman Daniel Lehr also bested Vukas' previous record with a time of 51.62. Zhang and Lehr finished second and third in the finals.

On Friday, Zhang set a new school record in the 200 breaststroke. 

Using combined scoring with the women's and men's teams, the Falcons amassed 2475 points after Saturday's results. Bryant University is in first place with 5455 and WPI is second with 3747.

Matthew Walden took second in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:11.87.

Carter Ferrara was third in the 50 backstroke (25.31).
