Bentley Third After Opening Day of Gompei Invitational; Zhang Sets School Record in 200 Breaststroke

Worcester, Mass. – The Bentley swimming and diving teams are third after the first day of competition at the WPI Gompei Invitational.

Freshman John Zhang set a new school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:05.45.

Zhang's time saw him beat the previous record of 2:05.69, set by Tanner Eisenhut in 2022. Zhang finished third in the A final.

The scoring at the Gompei meet combines both the women's and men's teams and Bentley amassed 1208 points. Bryant is in first place with 2860.5 and WPI is in second place with 1836 points.

Bentley had two winners in the 50 freestyle as Danny Lehr won the B final with a time of 21.48 and Tyler Marzano took the C final in 22.24.
