Bentley Swims Past Wheaton 161-110 in Season Opener

NORTON, Mass. – Bentley men's swimming and diving opened its season with a 161-110 victory over Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman John Zhang was a triple winner in the 100 and 200 breaststroke swims and the 200 IM. He won the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.07

Sophomore Leighton Wielgoszinksi won twice. The distance swimmer won the 500 free in 4:56.21, winning the race by seven seconds. He also won the 1000 free in 10:13.47, winning by nine seconds.

Junior Joseph Twomey won both the 100 and 200 fly events.

Freshman Danny Lehr was victorious in the 100 backstroke in 53.00. Another freshman, Daniel Ivanchikov, got his career off to a winning start by taking the 200 freestyle in 1:47.21. A third freshman, Matt Walden, was victorious in the 200 back.

Bentley, winners of 21 dual meets in a row, will now prepare for its home-opener next Sunday against Saint Rose.
