McGahie, Coleman & Yoshihara Honored by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the Bentley University swimming and diving teams –Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS), Greg Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./ Sachem North HS) and Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) – have been recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance last week.

McGahie was named the NE10 Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time, Coleman was selected for his seventh NE10 Men's Diver of the Week award, and Yoshihara received his fifth NE10 Men's Rookie of the Week honor.

In addition, McGahie was recognized as the Northeast-10 Women's Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.

In the final two home meets of her career, McGahie was a triple-winner twice while competing in five different events. She was first in the 50 yard freestyle (25.39), 100 free (55.25) and 100 individual medley (1:02.48) against Bridgewater State and posted victories in the 50 breaststroke (33.34), 100 free (55.95) and 50 butterfly (28.47) against Merrimack. She also helped Bentley win the 200 medley relay (1:56.00) against Bridgewater and swam the fastest leg on the Falcons' 200 free relay that placed second against Merrimack.

Coleman swept the diving events for the ninth straight dual meet, posting scores of 242.05 from the one-meter board and 230.24 from the three-meter against Bridgewater State. He also met the required standard for the NCAA pre-qual meet during the women's meet with Merrimack on Sunday, turning in a score of 452.35 on the one-meter.

In a 144-128 win over Bridgewater State that wrapped up an 11-0 dual season, Yoshihara swept the two backstroke races with times of 53.91 seconds in the 100 and 1:58.51 in the 200. He also was part of a Falcons' 200 medley relay that placed third in 1:46.43.

Three other Bentley student-athletes were named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for their performances: sophomore Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS), junior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) and freshman Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./ Wethersfield HS).

Kaduboski swam six individual events, all different, in the two meets and finished first in all six. Her wins came in the 200 free (2:00.18), 200 back (2:09.96) and 100 fly (1:02.31) against Bridgewater State and the 50 back (28.58), 100 back (1:00.46) and 200 individual medley (2:13.62) against Merrimack. In relays, she helped Bentley place first against Merrimack and second against Bridgewater State.

Niemiec won four of five individual races and was part of three winning relays during a 2-0 week for the Falcons.  Her individual wins came in the 100 fly (1:02.93) and 100 breast (1:11.69) against Merrimack, and in the two breaststroke events against Bridgewater (1:10.80 100, 230.93 200).

In the Falcons' dual win over Bridgewater State, Logozzo swept the diving events with scores of 230.60 from the one-meter board and 194.02 from the three-meter.

Bentley returns to action Feb. 16-19 when the Northeast-10 Championships are contested at Southern Connecticut State.
