Sausto Receives 2nd NE10 Rookie of the Week Award; Bentley Relay Team Also Honored

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bentley University freshman Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./The Doane Stuart School) has been named the Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Also recognized by the conference, as the Men's Relay of the Week, was the Falcons' 800 free relay team of senior Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS), junior Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy), sophomore Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) and freshman Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS).

All were honored for their performances during the Gompei Invitational at WPI over the weekend.

Sausto broke the school records for both the 1000 and 1650 freestyle while placing third in the 1650, with his time of 16:23.45 second best in the NE10 this season. His weekend also included finishing fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:15.91), 13th in the 500 free (4:48.85) and 35th in the 200 fly (2:07.01).

Bentley was third overall in the 800 free relay with the time of 6:59.98 the best in the conference this season. The relay included one student-athlete from each class.

This week's Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included two other Falcon swimmers, senior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and junior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS).

McGahie broke her own school record in the 100 individual medley while placing first in 1:00.33. She also was the NE10's top finisher in the 50 free (24.76, 4th overall) and the 100 free (54.46, 7th).

Niemiec posted a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley with her time of 2:10.02 third best in the NE10 this year. She was also fifth in both the 200 breaststroke (2:28.67, 3rd best this year) and the 400 individual medley (4:39.69, 2nd on NE10 list), and was sixth in the 100 breast (1:09.07).

Both also participated in five relays during the three-day meet.
