Yoshihara Leads Bentley Past Le Moyne, 169-131, with 3 Individual Wins

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) entered the pool four times Sunday afternoon and left victorious each time, leading the Falcons to a 169-131 win over Le Moyne College in men's college swimming at the Dana Center pool.

Yoshihara's individual wins came in the 100 yard backstroke (54.40 seconds), the 200 back (1:58.30) and the 500 freestyle (4:56.77). The latter two were both meet record times and his effort in the 100 back was the best by a Northeast-10 Conference swimmer so far this season.

The rookie won all three in convincing fashion with margins of 1.10 seconds in the 100 back, 3.15 in the 200 back and 4.02 in the 500 free.

Yoshihara began his afternoon by swimming the opening leg on Bentley's 200 medley relay team that won in 1:39.64. That quartet also included sophomore Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./ Bergen Catholic HS) and seniors Colin McCarthy (Glastonbury, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) and Liam Bartlett (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham HS).

Senior Greg Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North HS) and Nick Cilia (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter N.H.) went 1-2 in the two one-meter diving events. Coleman had a combined score of 421.63 and Cilia totaled 357.30.

The other first-place finish earned by Bentley was achieved by sophomore Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) with a time of 1:59.57 in the 200 butterfly.

The Falcons' nine second-place performances included two from junior Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS), in the 200 individual medley (2:02.77) and the 100 free (49.08).

Bentley, off to a 2-0 start, returns to action next Sunday when it will swim against The College of Saint Rose at RPI.
