Mancini Named NE-10 Sport Excellence Winner; 6 Falcon Swimmers & Divers Selected Academic All-Conference

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four-time Division II All-America diver Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/ Falmouth HS) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference's Sport Excellence award winner for women's swimming and diving for her success in the pool and the classroom.

Mancini was also voted to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Women's Swimming and Diving team, along with teammates Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Regional HS) and Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron School). McGahie was chosen for the second time while both Mancini and Warren were first-time honorees.

On the men's side, seniors Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS), Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) and Kevin Diefenbach (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert HS) all earned Academic All-Northeast-10 honors. For Bridge and Karl, it was their second nod in the last three seasons.

Mancini, who finished sixth in the three-meter diving at the NCAA Division II Championships last month in Indianapolis, captured both the one-meter and three-meter diving titles at the Northeast-10 Championships in February. It was the third time in her career she's been the conference championship in both. A senior who has another year of eligibility remaining, Mancini has achieved a 3.54 GPA as a marketing major.

McGahie, who helped Bentley to first place in the 800 yard free relay at the NE-10's, has 11 career NE-10 medals with three silver and seven bronze to go along with the gold in the relay. The junior owns the school records in the 100 individual medley, set twice this season with a best time of 1:00.70, and ranks second in program history in both the 100 freestyle (52.72) and the 200 free (1:55.33).  In the classroom, McGahie has a 3.81 GPA while majoring in both managerial economics-marketing and liberal studies.

Warren, a sophomore who won the NE-10 200 butterfly championship in 2015, earned silver in the event this season and also placed seventh in the 100 fly. In program history, she owns the second-best 200 fly time (2:08.39) as well as the fourth best 100 fly (59.79). The mathematical sciences major has achieved a 3.79 GPA.

Bridge, an economics-finance major with a 3.30 GPA, finished his career last month at the NCAA Division II qualification meet in Indianapolis. He's the 2016 Northeast-10 champion in the one-meter and was also a bronze-medal winner in the three-meter. Bridge owns all of Bentley's school records in men's diving.

Karl, also an economics-finance major with a 3.30, owns five school records including the individual marks in the 200 freestyle (1:42.09) and the 500 free (4:36.72). He has nine career NE-10 medals, including a silver in the 800 free relay at February's conference championships.

Diefenbach, who has achieved a 3.40 in management, was also part of the Falcons' 800 free relay that finished second in a school-record 6:53.59. His top individual finish at the 2016 NE-10's was an 11th in the 200 free.

Bentley's total of six Academic All-Conference selections in swimming and diving was matched only by Le Moyne College.

Earlier this semester, both Bentley's men's and women's teams were recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America teams for achieving a GPA exceeding 3.0 during the fall semester.
