Three Bentley Divers Selected for NCAA Prequalification Meet in Indianapolis

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior divers Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/ Falmouth HS), Courtney Stone (Andover/Andover HS) and Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) will be in Indianapolis, Ind.  next month to compete in the NCAA Division II pre-qualification meet on Tuesday, March 8 at the famed Indiana University Natatorium, located on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Mancini, a three-time Division II All-America, and Bridge will both be making their third trip to the pre-qual meet and Stone will be competing for the second time. Mancini missed last year due to injury after earning All-America honors as a freshman and sophomore. This is the third straight pre-qual meet for Bridge, and Stone will be returning after a year's absence.

Moving on from the pre-qual meet won't be easy as the pre-qual meet will include 29 men and 43 women. Eighteen men and 22 women will advance to compete in the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held over the following four days.

The top nine male and top 11 female divers on each of the two boards will automatically qualify for the championships. If there are divers who qualify on both boards, additional divers will be added to fill out the field.

Mancini will be returning to the meet after capturing gold on both the one-meter and three-meter boards during the Northeast-10 Conference Championships earlier this month. The six-time NE-10 champion was fifth nationally in the one-meter in 2014, seventh in the three-meters that same year, eighth in the one-meter as a freshman in 2013 and 13th in the three-meters in 2013.

Bridge will be looking to advance past the pre-qual meet for the first time. His best previous showing came in 2014 when he was 23rd off the three-meter board and 24th from the one-meter. At the Northeast-10 Championships this month, he became the conference champion in the one-meter and was third in the three-meter.

Stone finished third in the three-meter diving and fourth in the one-meter at the conference meet. In her previous trip to the pre-qual meet (2014), she placed 34th off the one-meter board.

This is the sixth straight year that at least two Bentley divers have reached the NCAA pre-qualification meet.
