WALTHAM, Mass. – Current members of the Bentley University swimming and diving teams own a total of 24 individual medals from previous Northeast-10 Conference championships. They'll be looking to build on that total over the coming days when the 2015 championships are contested at Southern Connecticut State University's Hutchinson Natatorium Thursday through Sunday.

The list of Bentley medal winners is topped by senior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./ Danbury HS), junior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) and senior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS). Edwards is a two-time gold medalist (500 yard freestyle in 2012, 200 free in 2013) and has a total of five medals to her credit. Bury earned gold in the 100 freestyle as a freshman and also has one silver (50 free in 2014) and two bronzes (200 free in 2013, 100 free in 2014) to his credit.            Bridge finished third in both diving events in 2013 and took second in both a year ago.

Junior Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) had an outstanding championship a year ago, breaking school records a total of seven times while earning three silver medals (200 free, 500 free, 800 free relay) and two bronze (1650 free, 400 free relay).

Seniors Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) and Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./ Holy Cross HS) have both been to the medal platform twice, as has junior Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy). Hellstern owns two bronze medals (50 free and 100 free in 2013), Wilde was second in the one-meter diving in 2012 and third in the three-meter in 2013, and Connolly took third in both the 100 and 200 backstroke competitions in 2013.

Other medalists back from last year are juniors Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) and Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS). Pernsteiner was second in the 200 individual medley and Liulakis was third in the 200 butterfly.

A pre-championship poll of conference coaches listed Bentley fourth on both the men's and women's sides. The coaches forecast that both defending champions will repeat, Southern Connecticut on the men's side and Assumption College on the women's.

In the women's poll, Assumption received eight of nine firsts and a total of 64 points. Saint Rose collected the other first and 51, Southern Connecticut was third at 49 and Bentley fourth with 45. The men's side had Southern Connecticut receiving six firsts and Saint Rose one. Southern had a total of 36 points while the rest of the top four were packed together (Saint Rose 27, Le Moyne 26, Bentley 24).

The championships will get under on Thursday and run through the weekend. Links to live results are available at www.bentleyfalcons.com and results can also be followed on your mobile device on Meet Mobile.
