Liulakis Wins Twice as Bentley Returns with 188-93 Win over St. Michaels

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS) won a pair of events and 12 other Falcons also turned in winning individual performances as Bentley University returned from a month-long holiday and exam break to defeat St. Michael's College, 188-93, in men's college swimming at the Dana Center pool Wednesday afternoon.

Liulakis' wins came in the 200 yard butterfly (2:05.73) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.24).

Also winning twice for the Falcons was sophomore diver Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) with a combined score of 413.24 in the two one-meter events.

In the freestyle events, Bentley's winners were senior Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) in the 50 (22.36), freshman Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) in the 100 (50.66), sophomore Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) in the 200 (1:49.07), sophomore Luke Mason (Lowell/Lowell HS) in the 500 (5:20.34) and sophomore Kevin Diefenbach (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert HS) in the 1000 (10:52.94).

Seniors Peter Belanger (Andover/Andover HS) and Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) were first to the wall in the 50 butterfly (25.46) and 50 breaststroke (28.91), respectively.

Other winners for the Falcons were junior Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) in the 50 backstroke (26.59), sophomore Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) in the 200 back (2:07.92) and freshman Dennis Witol (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) in the 200 breast (2:25.41).

Bentley, 5-2 on the year, will host Saint Rose on Sunday in the final home meet of the season.
