1-2-3 Finishes in Three Events Lift Bentley Past Roger Willams, 167-127

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's swimming and diving team captured the top three slots in three different events, outscoring the Hawks 48-9 in the process, and went on to record a 167-127 over Roger Williams University in their home opener Friday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

The first 1-2-3 sweep came in the 200 yard backstroke with junior Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./ Los Gatos HS) winning in 2:04.10. Sophomore Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) and freshman Matt Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown HS) following in 2:04.91 and 2:05.99. Connolly also was first in the 100 back, finishing in 56.44 seconds.

Freshman Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS), Bentley's only double-winner, prevailed in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.63. Sophomores Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) and Kevin Diefenbach (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) were second and third, finishing in 5:09.12 and 5:21.06. Wilson, the reigning Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week, previously touched first in the 200 free (1:48.76) and Karl was victorious in the 1000 free (10:46.21).

In the 100 butterfly, senior Andreas Mouritsen (Greve, Denmark), freshman Gregory Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) and sophomore Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS) went 1-2-3. Mouritsen finished in 55.09, Coleman in 55.41 and Liulakis 55.67.

Rounding out the list of winners for Bentley was sophomore diver Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) with a score of 224.62 off the one-meter board. He was also second in the three-meter.

Bentley, 1-2, will be off until next Saturday when the Falcons swim at UMass-Dartmouth.
