11 Bentley Swimmers & Divers Receive Weekly Honors From Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman diver Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) topped a list of 11 members of the Bentley University swimming and diving team who were cited for the team's performance in last week's sweep of Bridgewater State University.

Mancini was recognized as the NE-10 Women's Rookie of the Week for the fifth time, including the fourth time in January, and also was selected for her fourth Women's Diving Athlete of the Week award. Classmates Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) and Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) were also honored with Bridge the NE-10 Men's Diving Athlete of the Week for the third time and Karl and NE-10 Men's Rookie of the Week for the first.

Mancini continued her dominating freshman year by sweeping the diving events, posting scores of 296.01 from the one-meter board and 301.79 from the three-meter. Karl spent 16 minutes in the pool as he finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:49.80 and captured the 500 free in 5:11.05. Bridge placed first in both men's diving events with winning scores of 268.87, a season-best, from the one-meter and 248.02 from the three-meter.

Bentley also earned the Women's Relay of the Week and Men's Relay of the Week awards. The all-senior quartet of Taryn Dooley (Feeding Hills/Agawam HS), Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/ Brewer HS), Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Kelly Mazza (Merrick, N.Y./ Calhoun HS) staked the Falcons to the early lead in their final collegiate dual meet by capturing the 200 yard medley relay in 1:57.72, winning in 4.32 seconds.

To finish the meet, the all-freshman foursome of Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS), Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS), Kevin Diefenbach (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert HS) and Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS) took the 200 free relay in 1:33.95.

The NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll included Hodsdon, who finished first in both the 50 yard breaststroke (32.03) and 100 individual medley (1:03.61) and placed second in the 100 breast, in addition to participating on the winning relay.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Championships this Thursday-Saturday at Southern Connecticut State.
