Seven Members of Bentley Swimming & Diving Teams Recognized by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seven members of the Bentley University swimming and diving teams, including senior Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and freshman Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS), were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference this week for their performances in meets against St. Michael's College and The College of Saint Rose.

Mathews was selected as the NE-10 Women's Diver of the Week for the first time this season and the eighth in her career, and Bridge was tabbed the Men's Diver of the Week for the third time this year.  In addition, freshman Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) was recognized as the NE-10 Women's Rookie of the Week for the second straight week and third time overall.

During a 170-109 win at St. Michael's, Mathews captured both one-meter diving events with her combined 11-dive score of 461.55 breaking the school record by about 43 points. It also met the qualifying requirement for the NCAA Division II pre-championship meet, which will be held in Birmingham, Ala. in March. Against Saint Rose, she was second off the one-meter board (230.75) and was third off the three-meter (239.10).

Bridge was undefeated the two dual meets during the week. He amassed an 11-dive score of 410.65 while winning both one-meter events at St. Michael's, and posted winning scores of 233.10 (one meter) and 232.85 (three-meter) against Saint Rose.

Mancini swept both diving events during a dual meet with Saint Rose after placing second in both up at St. Michael's. Her scores against Saint Rose were 251.75 on the one meter and 281.05 on the three meter, and the NCAA qualifier had a combined one-meter 11-dive score of 445.20 at St. Michael's.

The quartet of seniors Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS), junior Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and sophomore Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) were selected as the NE-10 Women's Relay Team of the Week after winning the 200 medley relay at Saint Rose by 1.38 seconds with a time of 1:54.74. Drogosz staked the Falcons to a 1.07 second lead following the backstroke and her teammates never gave it up.

Le was also named to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll. She won four of the five individual events she swam during the week, and also helped Bentley to a relay victory in both meets. Her time of 2:25.95 in the 200 yard breaststroke was the best by a Falcon thus far this season.

Bentley's next meet is Saturday afternoon at home against Keene State.
