Men’s Swimming Too Much for UMass-Dartmouth in 153-78 Win

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Bentley University picked up its third dual meet win of the year with a 153-78 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in men's swimming Wednesday night.

Junior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) was one of six swimmers to win individual races, winning the 200yard  freestyle in 1:52.99. Sophomore Steven Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) joined him by narrowly winning the 50 free in 22.41, and senior Adam Wessels (Epsom, N.H./Bishop Brady HS) was the first of the three Bentley swimmers to touch first in the 200 individual medley, doing so in 2:11.05.

Senior Joe Frantel (Canandaigua, N.Y./Marcus Whitman HS) was a second better than Matthew Lee of UMass-Dartmouth in the 100 free, beating him with a time of 51.53. Freshman Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) took the 200 backstroke in 2:06.01, and freshman Janco Cornelius (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.73, just beating out teammate Peter Belanger's (Andover, Mass./Andover HS) 2:31.08.

Bentley will be back in the pool on Nov. 19 when they host St. Michael's.
