Bentley Fights Through the Rain to Beat Assumption 1-0 on Levine’s Goal

WALTHAM, Mass. – Graduate student midfielder Evan Levine scored a 57th minute goal to give the Bentley men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Assumption in a non-conference match on Wednesday.

The Falcons improved to 2-2 on the season and the Greyhounds dropped to 1-3.

Levine's well-taken goal broke the deadlock and the Falcons stood strong defensively the rest of the way for the clean sheet.

The goal was started when Luke Hanchar played a ball from the defensive end up to Johann Fraser in midfield on the right wing. Fraser played a quick pass to freshman Zach Spitznagle, who then threaded a through ball to Levine who was making a run down the right flank.

Levine took one touch and lofted a shot over the charging Assumption keeper and saw the ball settle into the left corner of the net for the goal from about 18 yards out.

Bentley held Assumption to just one shot on goal after Levine's goal.

Falcons goalkeepers Joe Griffin and Nick Maldarella combined for the clean sheet.

Bentley will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Franklin Pierce for the first NE10 match of the season.
