Men’s Soccer Earns Key 1-0 Road Win over New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Goalkeeper Eduardo Bomfim (Salvador, Brazil) made a season-high 10 saves and junior Lukas Drahos (Melrose, Mass./Mystic Valley) provided the goal as the Bentley men's soccer team earned a key three points with a 1-0 win at New Haven on Saturday night.

Bomfim, the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 3, made six saves in the first half and four saves in the second half.

Drahos provided the goal, his team leading 5th of the season, in the 52nd minute. Senior Evan Levine (Boca Raton, Fla./Olympic Heights) had the assist, which was his team leading 3rd of the campaign.

The goal came about after Drahos won the ball in the far-left corner in Bentley's attacking end. Drahos fought off a New Haven defender and played a pass to Levine. Levine then maneuvered around Chargers defenders in the 18-yard box and played a pass back off to Drahos, who took on a Chargers defender and dribbled in on goal.

Drahos then fired a shot across the goal from about six yards out that beat the New Haven keeper for the goal and a 1-0 lead.

Just under three minutes later Drahos nearly made it 2-nil when he fired a shot off the crossbar.

After Drahos' goal, Bomfim was called on to make three more saves. He earned his first shutout as a Falcon on the night.

Bentley improved to 3-4-1 in the NE10 with the win. Just three matches in the regular season remain. The next one is on Wednesday afternoon at Saint Rose.
