Bentley Earns 1-1 Draw with No. 20 Ranked Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Bentley men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with No. 20 ranked Adelphi on Wednesday night on the road.

The result ends a three-match winning streak for the Panthers, who re-entered the national rankings this week.

The Falcons' record in Northeast-10 matches goes to 1-2-1, and Adelphi goes to 2-1-1.

The match was tied 0-0 well into the second half. Falcons goalkeeper Eduardo Bomfim (Salvardor, Brazil) played a big role with six saves up to that point.

In the 65th minute Bentley had a chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty kick after an Adelphi foul inside the 18-yard box, only for Panthers keeper Daniel De La Heras to make a diving save to his left and clean up the rebound to keep the match scoreless.

Seven minutes later though, Adelphi took a 1-0 lead on a goal by forward Patrick Wilson.

Bentley though was not deterred and in the 81st minute, junior Lukas Drahos (Melrose, Mass./Mystic Valley) scored to level the match 1-1.

Sophomore defender Grant Larson (Camarillo, Calif.) got the play started with a long throw-in on the right sideline, deep in Bentley's attacking end. The ball was initially cleared out, but Larson regained possession and sent a cross into the penalty area. The ball bounced around until Drahos got a touch on it to get a shot past De La Heras on the far post for the goal.

The goal was Drahos' team leading fourth of the season.

Adelphi had the final shot on goal in the 88th minute, but Bomfim made his seventh save of the night.

Bentley's next game will be its Senior Night, on Saturday at 5:00 PM. The match will take place on the football field.
