Goals by Meyers and Drahos Lead Bentley to Comeback Win over St. Michael’s, 2-1

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Goals by Chad Meyers (East Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Lukas Drahos (Melrose, Mass./Mystic Valley) led the Bentley men's soccer team to a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory over St. Michael's on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Knights took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jake Manley in the 30th minute. But Meyers evened the score with his first goal of the year in 59th minute. Drahos then provided the winner with less than seven minutes left on the clock, in the 84th minute, to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Senior Evan Levine (Boca Raton, Fla./Olympic Heights) setup Meyers' goal with a cross from the left that Meyers struck home from the right-hand side to tie the score 1-1. The assist was Levine's second of the season.

The score stayed 1-1 for the next 25 minutes, until Drahos' third goal of the season put Bentley on its way to victory.

Senior Patrick McMahon (Kingston, Mass./Silver Lake) got the play started with a shot out front that was blocked by the Knights' defense, but Drahos was there to collect the rebound and score. The assist was McMahon's second of the season.

Following the goal, Bentley held firm on a corner kick by St. Michael's. Then with just 25 seconds left on the clock, Falcons goalkeeper Eduardo Bomfim (Salvador, Brazil) made a save to deny the Knights' Drew Kull.

Bomfim made six saves to earn the win in goal, his first as a Falcon.

Bentley improved to 2-3-2 overall and 1-1 NE10 with the victory. They will be back in action next Saturday when they host Le Moyne at 12:00 PM.
