Bentley Tops Saint Michael’s 3-0 behind Three Different Goal Scorers

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University earned a 3-0 victory over visiting Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon as the Falcons received goals from three different players. Senior goalkeeper Markus Foehr (Kailua, Hawaii) made nine saves in the win.

Bentley first scored in the 28th minute on graduate student Connor Mote's (Lisle, Ill./Benet) third goal of the season. The goal came after a throw-in by Harrison Bourgeois (Maynard, Msss./Maynard) to center back Nico Ruiz (Zaragoza, Spain). Ruiz gained possession in midfield and played a beautiful long ball to Mote in the penalty area. Mote took one touch and chipped the ball over Saint Michael's keeper Mathias Loft for the goal.

The Falcons took the 1-0 lead into halftime, and then scored twice in less than three minutes. Junior Patrick McMahon (Kingston, Mass./Silver Lake) scored in the 58th minute followed by Ruiz scoring in the 61st.

McMahon's goal came off a brilliant free kick sent in by graduate student midfielder TJ Walker (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) from about 40 yards out. Walker and Ruiz both stood over it, but it was Walker that sent the kick into the penalty area. McMahon then volleyed it past Loft for the goal on the near post to give Bentley a 2-0 lead.

Ruiz then made it 3-0 after center back Hunter Marshall (Harwinton, Conn./Avon Old Farms) played a ball from midfield that McMahon headed on to Ruiz just outside the penalty area. Ruiz then fired a low shot to the far post to give Bentley a 3-0 lead.

Foehr meanwhile had a strong game in goal with nine saves to earn the win.

The Falcons will next be in action next Saturday at Franklin Pierce.
