Spangler, Morra & Sullivan Tabbed Captains for Men’s Soccer Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – A trio of seniors, Eric Spangler (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus), Eric Morra (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Sean Sullivan (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) have been tabbed by head coach Gary Crompton as team captains for the 2017 campaign.

"We have three captains providing much needed leadership for our new squad that includes 10 freshmen and two transfers," said Crompton. "Spangler, Morra and Sullivan have been outstanding student athletes for us here at Bentley. All three work very hard in the classroom and on the practice field, and are mature, accountable young men who are enthusiastic about our program. They all serve as great ambassadors to our program and I look forward to their assistance in developing this year's team into a competitive, organized, disciplined group."

Spangler was a co-captain last season as a junior, and emerged as a starter in Crompton's lineup. He started a career high 13 matches as either a midfielder or center back.

Morra was the only player on the squad last season to start all 16 matches. Lining up most often as a midfielder, he had one goal and one assist on the season. His goal came in Bentley's 3-0 win over Stonehill on Oct. 5.

Sullivan has been the Falcons' leading goal scorer over the last three seasons. He has tallied 15 in that time, with seven as a sophomore in 2015 and six last season as a junior. A center forward, he had three game-winning goals in that 2015 campaign, and one last season, which came in a 1-0 victory over New Haven on Oct. 25.

Bentley gets its season started on September 1 vs. Molloy in North Andover, Mass.
