Scaringe, Spangler Selected as Bentley Men’s Soccer Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Forrest Scaringe (Cohoes, N.Y./CBA) and junior Eric Spangler (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) will wear the captains armband for the Bentley men's soccer team during the 2016 season.

Scaringe and Spangler, both midfielders, take over captains duties from Scott Levy and Stephen Silva, who both graduated in May.

Said head coach Gary Crompton, "both Eric and Forrest were chosen because of their commitment level to the team. Both set the example with hard work and a genuine passion for Bentley soccer. They have the utmost respect from both our coaching staff and their teammates, and will be fine leaders in a long line of quality captains that we have had over the years."

Scaringe had a breakthrough junior season that saw him set career-highs across the board in matches played (all 18), starts (16) and goals (2). He had the only goal in Bentley's 1-0 home win over Assumption off a corner kick in late September. He also scored the tying goal in the team's 2-1, come from behind victory over Le Moyne in mid-October. Scaringe, who is majoring in corporate finance and accounting, has played in 41 total matches entering his senior season.

Spangler has been a constant presence on the field for the Falcons during his first two seasons. After appearing in 15 of 17 matches as a freshman, he played in 16 of 18 last year. He notched an assist in the team's early season 3-1 win over Caldwell. From Colorado, Spangler is majoring in economics-finance.

The two captains will lead Bentley onto the field for its first practice of the season on campus on Wednesday afternoon. The season-opener is on Sept. 1 vs. Post at the Kickoff Classic in North Andover.
