Zeiner’s Goal Sends Bentley to Wild 4-3 Win Over Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Junior Weston Zeiner (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) scored an 82nd minute goal to give the Bentley men's soccer team a wild 4-3 win over Bridgeport in a non-conference match Wednesday night.

The Falcons fell behind 2-0 in the first half and 3-2 in the second but scored the final two goals to win for the third straight time and fifth out of six.

Sophomore Christoffer Olesen put the Purple Knights ahead 3-2 with a 58th minute goal. But junior Tyler Kahn (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) equalized in the 72nd minute, scoring on a header after sophomore Cody Osgood (Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School) headed the ball to him.

Zeiner then scored the winner 10 minutes later off a corner kick from senior Matt Solomon (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms).

Bridgeport netted the game's first two goals, sophomore Markus Naglestad in just the second minute, his seventh of the year, and senior Patric Brundin in the 13th.

After 24 minutes had gone by without a response, Bentley struck twice in the span of 90 seconds to tie the score. Freshman Louis Boisvert (South Windsor, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) scored his fourth of the season in the 37th minute with a low shot to the right corner of the net. Right after that freshman Michael Dias (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth), who assisted on Boisvert's goal, scored one of his own with Zeiner on the assist.

Bentley improves to 7-2-1 overall and Bridgeport falls to 5-5. The Falcons get back to Northeast-10 play on Saturday afternoon when they host Le Moyne at noon for a key conference game.
