Own Goal Leads to 2-1, 2OT Win for Bentley

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – An own goal by New Haven with less than three minutes to play in the second overtime led to a 2-1 win for the Bentley men's soccer team on Sunday in a Northeast-10 matchup.

A 41st minute goal by New Haven junior Joseph D'Antonio was canceled out by Justin Cirasola's goal for Bentley in the 67th minute and the game went into overtime tied at 1-1.

A miscommunication by the Charger goalkeeper and defense caused the own goal in the 108th minute of the match and allowed Bentley to come away with its sixth win of the season.

Now 5-1 in the NE-10 the Falcons stay in a four-way for first place with 15 points. Their back in action for a non-conference game Wednesday afternoon at Bridgeport before facing Le Moyne next Saturday at home.
