Bentley Tops Stonehill 1-0 on Boisvert’s Goal

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's soccer team won for the fourth time in five games Thursday afternoon, defeating Stonehill 1-0 in a Northeast-10 contest on freshman Louis Boisvert's (South Windsor, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) goal in the 24th minute.

This game was originally scheduled to be played more than three weeks ago but was postponed twice due to rain. The teams again had deal with rainfall throughout pregame warm-ups but it subsided after kickoff.

Boisvert's goal was his third of the season and it came after freshman Michael Dias (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) chipped a ball on to him in the box, giving him an opportunity to knock a shot past keeper Adam Colella on the left post from close range.

Stonehill put together several scoring chances midway through the second half in search of the tying goal, but senior goalie Matt Reynolds (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) came up with two saves and two other shots by the Skyhawks were pulled wide.

Junior Tyler Kahn (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) nearly added a second goal for Bentley in the 71st minute after a through ball from Dias gave him a breakaway, but Colella came out and made a diving save.

Reynolds made five saves to earn his fifth win of the season and fourth shutout. The win improves the Falcons' NE-10 record to 4-1, and pulls them into a five-way tie atop the standings with 12 points. Stonehill drops to 2-3 in the NE-10.

Bentley continues its busy week on Sunday when they visit New Haven, for what will be its third game in six days. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30.
