WALTHAM, Mass. – UMass-Lowell handed the Bentley men's soccer team its first Northeast-10 loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 2-1.

The loss snaps Bentley's three-match winning streak and drops their record to 4-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the NE-10. The River Hawks have now won three straight and improve to 4-4 and 4-2 in league play.

With the Falcons missing four regular starters from the lineup, UML took advantage early and grabbed a 1-0 lead after just four-plus minutes on senior Mohammed Saeed's third goal of the season. Saeed was opportunistic on the goal, as he collected the rebound from a shot by Daniel Galvin that hit the post and knocked the ball in.

Bentley had a golden opportunity to tie the score in the 34^th minute after a UML turnover in its own end led to a breakaway for junior Matthew Leibowitz (Holliston, Mass./Worcester Academy), but keeper Chris Maierle aggressively came out to deny the chance.

The equalizer did come for the Falcons right before halftime though on sophomore Cody Osgood's (Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School) first goal of the year. Junior Riley Rodgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline) sent a long ball from well in his own end to Osgood, and a misplay by the UML defense allowed Osgood an open shot on Maierle for the goal.

The River Hawks went ahead through freshman Homero Morais' goal in the 61^st minute, but Bentley sent everyone forward in the final minutes in search of the equalizer. The best chance came with nine-plus minutes left after Bentley blocked a goal kick from Maierle, and the ball came to junior Weston Zeiner (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) for an open shot that went just wide to the far post.

Bentley had two corner kicks in the final five-plus minutes, but nothing came of them and UML held on for the victory.
