Ulmer’s First Half Double Helps Bentley Knock Off St. Michael’s 4-1

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior forward Eric Ulmer (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) struck twice in the first half to help Bentley University come away with a 4-1 road win against Saint Michael's Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 men's soccer play.

Senior Matt Solomon (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) added two goals of his own for the victors, and sophomore Jordan Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) assisted on Solomon's first goal and Ulmer' second. The win is the second straight for the Falcons, who improve to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the NE-10. Saint Mike's falls to 3-2-2 and 1-1-1 in conference play

Ulmer scored his first two goals of the season on either side of Solomon's goal in the 19th minute to give Bentley a commanding 3-0 first half lead and allowed the Falcons to cruise to the win in the second half.

Ulmer opened the scoring in the 14th minute with freshman Michael Dias (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) on the assist, and less than five minutes later Solomon put in his second goal of the season to make it 2-nil before 20 minutes had passed.

Bentley made it 3-0 in the 24th minute when Ulmer put in the rebound off a header by Bridge that Saint Michael's goalie Logan Kingman saved.

Solomon added to Bentley's lead in the 73rd minute, before Anthony Stanley pulled one back for Saint Mike's a little under two minutes later.

Senior goalie Matt Reynolds (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made three saves to earn the win, and junior Alex Pilitsis (Brunswick, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) made his Bentley debut late in the game and made a save.

Bentley is back in action on Saturday when they visit Assumption for a noon kickoff.
