WALTHAM, Mass. – The men's soccer team won its Northeast-10 opener, 2-0 over AIC Sunday afternoon in Waltham. Sophomores Justin Cirasola (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and freshman Michael Dias (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth).
Sophomore Jordan Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) and Osgood had early chances for the Falcons, but both were denied by Yellow Jackets keeper Jason Ryan.
Cirasola though put the home side up 1-0 with his first career goal in the 23rd minute. The goal came off a corner kick from by sophomore Bret Kuchenbecker (Wellesley, Mass./Masuk). Freshman Louis Boisvert (South Windsor, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) played the ball in the air to Cirasola, who volleyed it past Ryan to give Bentley the lead.
The second goal came on a diving header from Dias in the 53rd minute for his first career goal. Bridge played a cross from deep in the left corner of the field to Dias on the far post, and he drilled his header inside the right post.
Kuchenbecker nearly added a third in the 63rd minute but his header bounced off the post.
The victory is Bentley's second of the season and makes them 1-0 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets have dropped two straight are 0-2 in conference action.
The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday afternoon at Saint Michael's, the first of two road games next week. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
