Nikiforov Earns Second Straight Northeast-10 Weekly Honor
WALTHAM, Mass. – Riding a five-match shutout streak and preparing to lead the men's soccer team into the Northeast-10 playoffs, Bentley University's Mike Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) was selected as the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week.
Nikiforov made a total of 13 saves during two games for Bentley last week, a 1-0 win at Saint Anselm on Oct. 26 and a scoreless draw at AIC on Oct. 29. He made 10 saves in the AIC game which equaled his season-high.
The grad student has had a terrific season for Bentley, compiling a record of 8-2-5 with eight shutouts and a 0.61 goals against average. He hasn't let a goal in since the 6th minute of a game against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 12, spanning some 584 minutes.
Nikiforov also won the award last Monday as he helped Bentley to a draw with Southern New Hampshire and a Homecoming Day win over Merrimack. It's the fourth time in his career he's taken the award.
