Bentley Earns Point from No. 3 Franklin Pierce in 1-1 Tie
RINDGE, N.H. – A 68th minute goal by sophomore Weston Zeiner (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) helped Bentley University earn a 1-1 draw with third-ranked Franklin Pierce on Tuesday night in Northeast-10 men's soccer.
After Franklin Pierce took a lead just six minutes in on a Amory Houghton goal, the Falcons held down the Ravens' offense for the rest of the night, led by goalie Mike Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass./Framingham), who made seven saves.
The Falcons equalized on Zeiner's third goal of the season with sophomore Brennan DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) on the assist. The goal came when DaCosta took a free kick and Zeiner headed the ball past Ravens keeper Vinny Papageorgiou.
Bentley's record now goes to 7-2-3 overall and 4-1-3 in the NE-10. Franklin Pierce goes to 9-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the conference.
With just five games left in the season, Bentley begins a three-game home stand on Saturday against Assumption.
