Harvath scores three times as No. 12 Falcons stun No. 5 St. Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – Nick Harvath scored three goals, and Jackson Tinsley made 11 saves to lead the No. 12 Bentley men's lacrosse team to an upset victory over No. 5 St. Anselm, 13-11, Friday night. It was Bentley's first win over St. Anselm since 2019.

The Hawks claimed a 3-0 lead with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. Nathan Alviti finally put the Falcons on the board with an unassisted goal, and Harvath scored his first goal of the game with 39 seconds remaining in the opening period. The Hawks found the back of the net in the final seconds of the first quarter to take a 4-2 lead into the second frame.

The Falcons remained in a two-goal deficit, 6-4, entering halftime. Harvath and Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro scored in the second quarter for Bentley.

Thorn-Guillaro opened the scoring in the second half by beating the goalie just 30 seconds into the third quarter. The Hawks answered right back with a goal, but then Harvath scored consecutive goals to tie the game, 7-7.

Bentley claimed its first lead, 8-7, when David Gagnon scored midway through the third quarter. Another goal by Alviti allowed the Falcons to take a 9-8 lead into the fourth quarter.

St. Anslem reclaimed the lead, 10-9, just 90 seconds into the fourth. However, Bentley went on a 4-0 run to the Hawks behind for good. Jayce Lambert, Gagnon, Ryan Noyes, and Conor Segreti each scored during that run. Tinsley made three saves in the fourth quarter.

Both teams gathered 32 ground balls, and Bentley overcame 20 turnovers to the Hawks' 12.

The Falcons' next game is at Frostburg State, March 13.
