Men’s Lacrosse Opens 2024 Season at Home on Friday with Sights Set on NE10 Title

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team begins 2024 season at home on Friday night when they host Mercy at 5:00 PM in an early season matchup of top-10 teams in the USILA poll.

The Falcons are coming off an outstanding 2023 season where they were selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. They also reached the finals of the NE10 Championship after a semifinal win at home against Adelphi.

Head coach Jim Murphy is entering his 32nd year on the sidelines at Bentley and he was named the 2023 NE10 Coach of the Year, for the 7th time in his career. One of the winningest coaches in Division II history, he welcomes back a number of key players from last season's squad.

Murphy tabbed defenseman Bryan Powers, attacker Conor Segreti and midfielders Jake Tyska and Nick Harvath as team captains.

Faceoff taker Cam Bartolomeo was named a USILA Preseason All-America after he was named the NE10 Faceoff Specialist of the Year and a USILA third team All-America last season.

Midfielder Nathan Alviti was also selected as a USILA Preseason All-America. He had a stellar 2023 where he amassed 24 goals and 15 assists. Those numbers garnered him honorable mention All-America and All-Region by the USILA.

Segreti, third team All-Conference pick last season, is the Falcons' leading returning scorer. He notched 26 goals and 16 assists. Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro had a standout 2023 with a career-high 24 goals and adds his talents to Bentley's attack.

Powers helps anchor a defense that was one of the top units in the NE10 last season and returns a strong core.

Powers was named All-New England and Joseph Franzoso earned a first team All-Conference nod. Long stick midfielder Alex Parton was a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honorable mention and fellow LSM Kyle Piersiak was named NE10 All-Rookie for his first NCAA season.

In the cage Jackson Tinsley is one of the top goalies in the NE10. He was named second team All-New England after he started all 16 games for the Falcons, posted 10 wins and a goals against average of 9.82.

The Falcons were ranked 10th in the USILA Preseason Poll and second in the NE10 Preseason Poll. They take on Saint Anselm in non-conference game on March 2 at home, before the NE10 encounter in Manchester on March 30.

Adelphi comes to Waltham for a rematch of last season's NCAA game on March 16.

Senior Day is on Saturday, April 20 against Assumption and the regular season concludes on April 23 at Saint Rose.
