No. 1 Le Moyne Hangs On to Top No. 18 Bentley, 12-10

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 18 ranked Bentley gave No. 1 ranked Le Moyne all it could handle, but the Dolphins came away with a 12-10 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Le Moyne continued its unbeaten start to the season at 10-0 and 6-0 NE10. The Falcons dropped to 5-4 overall and 4-2 NE10.

Bentley scored just 11 seconds into the 4th quarter to make it a 12-10 game. The goal came from long stick midfielder Alex Parton (Victor, N.Y./Victor) after a behind the back assist by Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High).

That proved to be the final goal of the contest, however.

Bentley outshot Le Moyne 15-7 in the fourth quarter, but Dolphins goalie Matt Vavonese was equal to the task and made seven saves after Parton's goal. He finished the game with 16 saves.

Falcons goalie Jackson Tinsley (Beverly Hills, Mich.) made 12 stops.

Tinsley's 12th and final save of the game came with 2:38 remaining and after a successful clear Bentley had possession. But the Falcons weren't able to get a shot on the cage and Le Moyne got the ball back with 1:14 left. They were able to run out the clock from that point.

Bentley trailed 8-6 at halftime and fell behind 10-7 after three minutes of the third quarter.  But after 10 minutes elapsed without a goal by either team, Bentley scored twice in quick succession at the 2:15 and 2:08 marks. Those goals came from Will Adams (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier), off a faceoff win.

That made the score 10-9 for Le Moyne, who closed the quarter with two goals of its own, including a goal by Isaac Frechette with one second remaining. That gave them a 12-9 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Bentley was led offensively by Jaber, who had two goals and two assists, and Nathan Alviti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield), with three goals and one assist.

Bartolomeo and Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) combined to go 18-26 in the faceoff circle. Tyska scored his 3rd goal of the season in the 2nd quarter.
