WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 16 ranked Bentley ran past Georgian Court 19-4 in the opening game of the 2023 season on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons used an 11-0 run that stretched from the end of the 1st quarter to the mid-point of the 3rd quarter to blow the game open. They had been trailing 3-2 after a tight opening quarter but quickly began to gain separation after Conor Segreti (Darnestown, Md./St. John's) scored the tying goal with 8 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Segreti scored again 33 seconds into the 2nd quarter to give Bentley a 4-3 lead. The was part of a seven goal 2nd quarter for the Falcons where they also shut Georgian Court out.
It was the same story in the 2nd half as Bentley outscored their opponents 9-1. Overall the run was 17-1 from the end of the 1st quarter.
Senior attacker Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) led the attack with five goals. Segreti and sophomore Nathan Alviti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) each poured in four goals, and Alviti added three assists for a game-high seven points.
Sophomore Alex Parton (Victor, N.Y./Victor) had a game-high six ground balls. Sophomore goalie Jackson Tinsley (Beverly Hill, Mich.) made seven saves to earn his first NCAA win.
Bentley (1-0) will be back in action next Saturday when they open NE10 play at home against St. Michael's at 1:30 PM.
