No. 16 Bentley Tops AIC 16-8 to Improve to 6-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – 12 different players scored in a balanced offensive effort as the No. 16 ranked Bentley men's lacrosse team defeated American International 16-8 on Wednesday night.

The Falcons improved to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the NE10.

Bentley never trailed after junior Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) opened the scoring 1:04 into the game.

Jaber was one of four players to score two goals, with Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), Nick McGovern (Bow, N.H./Bishop Guertin) and Brian Lemay (Westminster, Mass./Cushing) the others. Birch and Jaber each added two assists to share the game-high with four points.

Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) went 11-15 in the faceoff circle and had a game-high seven ground balls, while Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) went 6-8.

The Falcons led 6-1 after the first quarter with three of the goals coming in a spurt of 1:38 midway through the quarter. The lead was built upon in the second quarter as Bentley outscored AIC 3-2 to lead at 9-3 at halftime.

In the third quarter defenseman Jacob Scholten (Hudson, N.H./Derryfield) and senior Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) with a man-up goal were among the goal scorers as the lead was 12-6 after 45 minutes.

Goaltending duties on the night were shared as Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook), Jack Fitzgerald (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) and Max Ronesi (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskauna) all saw action.

Bentley will be off this weekend before they host No. 2 ranked Le Moyne on Tuesday, April 12 at 5:00 pm.
