Stifling Defense and Balanced Scoring Lead No. 16 Bentley to 12-1 Win over Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 16 ranked Bentley used a mixture of stifling defense and balanced scoring in a 12-1 victory over Assumption on Tuesday night for the team's third straight win.

The Falcons improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the NE10 with the win.

Sophomore Jackson Bach (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills) opened the scoring for Bentley at the 9:20 mark of the 1st quarter to give the home side an early 1-0 lead. Assumption's CJ Wiper scored at the 8:06 mark to tie the game 1-1. But after that goal, Assumption did not score for the rest of the night as the Bentley defense shutout the Greyhounds attack for more than 52 minutes.

Bentley took a 2-1 lead late in the 1st quarter after a man-up goal by freshman Nathan Alviti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield).

Senior Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) scored the only two goals in the second quarter as Bentley led 3-1 at halftime.

Senior Matty O'Brien (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) opened the scoring in the third quarter with a strike at the 8:33 mark for a 4-1 lead. Birch completed his hat trick with a goal 40 seconds later, and Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) found the back of the net just over a minute later at the 6:49 mark of the third.

The goals in the 4th quarter were highlighted by a behind the back goal by junior Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) at the 10:54 mark to give Bentley a 9-1 lead. Jaber also had three assists on the night.

Senior goalie Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) made nine saves to earn the win. Sophomore Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) had a 13-15 night in the face-off circle.

Bentley will now go for its fourth straight win on Saturday when they visit Saint Anselm.
