Jaber’s Six Goals Lead No. 18 Bentley Past Saint Michael’s 17-11 in NE10 Opener

COLCEHSTER, Vt. – Junior Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) scored a career-high six goals on a big offensive day for the No. 18 ranked Bentley men's lacrosse team in a 17-11 victory at Saint Michael's on Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the NE10 after they earned the win in today's conference opener.

Senior Ben Baldasaro (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) had two goals and added three assists and senior Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) also added two goals.

Bentley led 3-2 after the first quarter. After not scoring for the first eight-plus minutes of the game, Bentley went on a 3-0 run that took a little under three minutes to take a 3-1 lead.

The Falcons then did a lot of damage in the second quarter to the tune of six goals.

The game was tied 6-6 after a Saint Michael's goal at the 4:54 mark, but Falcons face-off man Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) scored right off of the ensuing draw to give Bentley a 7-6 lead and they led for good from that point.

Jaber scored twice in the final 32 seconds of the half. He scored with 32 seconds remaining, with Baldasaro on the assist, to give Bentley an 8-6 lead. Saint Michael's responded by scoring with seven seconds left, only for Jaber to answer back just before the stroke of halftime for a 9-7 Falcons lead.

The 3rd quarter slowed down in terms of goals with only three, with Bentley scoring two of them. Jaber scored them both, at the 9:39 and 2:22 marks to give them an 11-8 lead going into the 4th quarter.

Bentley scored the first two goals of the 4th quarter, off the sticks of Conor Segreti and Moseman, to open up a 13-8 lead at the 10:32 mark.

Saint Michael's responded with a 2-0 run to make it a 13-10 game with 8:28 remaining. But Bentley then went on a 3-0 run of its own over the next 1:15. Moseman, Jaber and Devin Smith () scored to give them a 16-10 lead with just over six minutes remaining.

Falcons senior goalie Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) made 13 saves to earn the win. Tyska had a game-high eight ground balls and went 14-19 in the face-off circle, and Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) went 9-12.

Bentley's next game is its home opener, on Saturday against Mercy.
