Bentley Goes Down to the Wire with No. 1 Le Moyne, but Falls in Overtime 11-10

Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team went down to the wire with Le Moyne, the No. 1 ranked team in Division II, and forced overtime but the Dolphins emerged victorious in a hard fought game 11-10 on Saturday.

The Falcons trailed 8-6 after the third quarter but outscored Le Moyne 4-2 over the final 15 minutes to force the overtime.

Bentley had the first possession of overtime after Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) won the faceoff and Connor Baughan (Foxborough, Mass./Portsmouth) secured the ground ball, and had a shot hit off the post.

The Bentley defense then stopped Le Moyne on a one minute extra man opportunity. But after the penalty expired and Le Moyne took a timeout, graduate student attacker Jake Nelson scored on a second chance opportunity with 47 seconds left to give the Dolphins the win.

Bentley's junior goaltender Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) made 20 saves and had a 64.5 save percentage on the day.

Trailing 10-7 in the 4th quarter after Le Moyne scored two goals in a row, Bentley scored the final three goals of regulation and shutout Le Moyne the rest of the way to force overtime.

Graduate student attacker Joey Tesoriero (Huntington Station, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) scored with 7:46 left, with Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) on the assist, to make it 10-8.

After a faceoff win by Tyska, Bentley scored just 45 seconds later off the stick of Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), assisted by Kris Campbell (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) to make it a 10-9 game.

The tying goal came off the stick of Campbell, assisted by Birch, with 4:56 left in the 3rd.

Bentley had a chance to win in regulation after they denied Le Moyne on a possession and called a timeout. But its final shot just before the buzzer went wide.

Bentley dropped to 4-3, while Le Moyne improved to 8-0.

The Falcons will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday when they visit Franklin Pierce.
