Bentley Comes Up Big in 4th Quarter in 9-7 Victory over Southern N.H.

Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team came up big in the 4th quarter to defeat Southern New Hampshire 9-7 on Wednesday night, the team's 4th straight win.

The Falcons outscored the Penmen 3-1 in the final quarter. Junior goalie Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) made four of his 12 saves in 4th, and senior Connor Baughan (Foxborough, Mass./Portsmouth Abbey) had a takeaway and ground ball on SNHU's final possession to seal the win.

With the game tied 6-6 in the 4th, Bentley took the lead at the 13:29 mark on a goal by senior Kris Campbell (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), with senior Dom Cioffi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) on the assist. That was Bentley's first lead since they were ahead 4-3 midway through the 2nd quarter.

Bentley then scored right off the next faceoff just six seconds later. Freshman Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) won the draw, raced down the field and passed off to graduate student Joey Tesoriero (Huntington Station, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills), who unleashed a quick shot past the Penmen goalie to give Bentley an 8-6 lead.

SNHU made it a one goal game at the 9:45 mark on a goal by Chris Valentine, but that was the last goal they would score.

The Falcons went back ahead by two goals, 9-7, when Cioffi scored with a shot from distance off a pass from Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) with 4:06 remaining.

Bentley then hunkered down defensively and didn't allow the Penmen another shot the rest of the way. Baughan's caused turnover in the final seconds helped seal the win.

The Falcons improved to 4-2 on the season with the victory. They will go for five in a row on Saturday when they host Le Moyne.
