No. 2 Le Moyne Pulls Away from No. 19 Bentley in 4th Quarter

Waltham, Mass. – No. 2 ranked Le Moyne scored six goals in the 4th quarter to pull away for a 16-9 victory over No. 19 ranked Bentley on Saturday afternoon in the Falcons' season opener.

Le Moyne, now 3-0 on the season, led just 7-4 at halftime and 10-6 after three quarters. But the Dolphins scored six goals unanswered over the first eight-plus minutes of the fourth quarter to pull away.

Le Moyne led it 5-1 after the first quarter. Senior Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Phillips Exeter) scored for Bentley at 6:55.

The Falcons though ripped off three straight goals in the second quarter, and kept the Dolphins off the scoreboard for more than 13 minutes. Sophomore Matty O'Brien (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) and Ben Baldasaro (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) scored just 43 seconds apart to cut the deficit to 5-3 at the 10:51 mark. Senior Joey Tesoriero (Huntington Station, N.Y.) then scored at 7:38 to make it a 5-4 game.

Le Moyne though finally got back on the scoreboard late in the quarter, as Matt Hutchings netted a man-up goal at 2:42. The goal was one of a game high five for Hutchings. Colin Sypek then scored for Le Moyne 31 seconds later, as they led 7-4 at halftime.

The first three goals of the third quarter went Le Moyne's way, in a span of just over two minutes as they opened up a 10-4 lead.

Bentley though was able to get back in the game, as senior Walker Gautier (South Miami, Fla./Gulliver) scored consecutive goals. The first was unassisted and the second was assisted by Mark Galione (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) to make it 10-6 at 5:55.

That would be Bentley's final goal until the 3:33 mark of the 4th quarter, when Baldasaro scored. Michael Fricke (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor) and Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) also scored for Bentley in the final minutes.

Senior goalie Michael Haggan (Braintree, Mass./BC High) made 13 saves.

Bentley will next be in action next Saturday when they host New York Tech.
