NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack sophomore attack Jamie Shand scored four goals to lead the No. 4 Warriors to a 14-3 victory over the Bentley University men's lacrosse team Tuesday night.
Merrimack, now 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast-10 on the season, also received multiple goals from senior Greg Melaugh and senior Corey Lunney. Senior Tim Matheson (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) had two goals for Bentley.
Merrimack raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, before Bentley's Steve Caditz (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) pulled one back with eight seconds left in the quarter.
The home side scored the only two goals of the second quarter to lead 6-1 at halftime, and the first two of the third quarter, before Matheson netted his first of the night to make the score 8-2. But Merrimack scored six straight before Matheson finished out the scoring with a man-up goal with 1:45 remaining in the fourth.
The Falcons, who drop to 2-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play, return to the field on Saturday at Assumption.
