Bentley Falls to Air Force 3-1 in Series Opener

WALTHAM, Mass. – Air Force scored three goals in the first period on its way to a 3-1 victory over the Falcons on Friday night at Bentley Arena.

Air Force opened the scoring with a goal by Nate Horn at the 4:17 mark for an early 1-0 lead.

Six minutes elapsed before Air Force made it 2-0 with a power play goal by Chris Hedeen at the 10:37 mark. That broke a streak of four straight games Bentley had gone without giving up a power play goal.

Just under three minutes after Hedden's goal, Andrew DeCarlo found space in the slot and fired a shot to give Air Force a 3-0 lead.

Neither team scored in the second period as Bentley faced a 3-0 deficit going into the final 20 minutes.

Bentley cut into the lead 4:25 into the period when freshman defenseman Colton Cameron scored for the second straight game. A shot on goal by Stephen Castagna that was saved created the opportunity for Cameron who poked home the rebound for the goal.

A potential turning point came with about a minute left on the clock when Bentley challenged, and won, a call that led to a five-minute major on Air Force. The clock was rewound to 4:00 as Bentley was on the power play for the rest of the game.

Air Force was able to keep Bentley out despite the extra attacker coming on for the final minute.

Bentley sees its two-game winning streak snapped. They will look to bounce back on Saturday in the series finale.
