Bentley Defeats RIT 2-1 to Earn Series Split

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Stephen Castagna (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored the goals and Connor Hasley (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) made 30 saves as Bentley defeated RIT 2-1 on Saturday to earn a series split.

Kodsi scored at 14:09 of the 2nd period and Castagna at 9:10 of the third period, the 7th goal of the season for both.

Hasley had a shutout going for nearly 57 minutes until RIT's Calvin Boots scored with 3:03 remaining. But Bentley was able to secure the win over the final three-plus minutes.

Kodsi's goal came after he broke into the offensive zone with speed and fed a pass to Ethan Harrison (Plano, Texas) on the right wing. Harrison's shot went wide but Castagna retrieved the puck behind the net. He passed to Kodsi in front, who beat RIT goalie Tommy Scarfone with a shot over his stick for the goal.

Castagna's goal in the 3rd period made it 2-0 for Bentley after he tipped-in from a shot by Lucas Vanroboys (Thamesville, Ontario). Vanroboys retrieved a shot from defenseman Seth Bernard-Docker (Canmore, Alberta) that had gone wide and put his own shot on net from the top of the left faceoff circle that Castagna fought through traffic to tip-in.

After Boots' goal made the score 2-1, RIT pulled Scarfone for an extra-attacker. Hasley made two saves with the extra-attacker on. In the waning seconds, Falcons defenseman Marcus Walter (St. Albert/Alberta) broke up a cross-ice pass from Elijah Gonsalves that was a potential scoring chance and allowed Hasley to freeze the puck.

Tucker Hodgson (Grand Forks, N.D.) blocked a last second shot by Gonsalves as the clock ran out and Bentley secured the victory.

The Falcons will close out the regular season next weekend with a pair of home games against Army West Point. Next Friday's game is at 7:05 PM and next Saturday is at 4:05 PM.
