Castagna Scores Late Goal but Holy Cross Tops Bentley in OT, 3-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley freshman Stephen Castagna (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored with 3:03 left in regulation to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime, but Holy Cross scored in the extra period for a 3-2 win on Saturday night.

Castagna's goal tied the game 2-2 with just over three minutes remaining. Defenseman Seth Bernard-Docker (Canmore, Alberta) passed ahead to Josh Latta (West Vancouver, B.C.) who broke into the offensive zone with speed. As he approached the net he dropped a pass to Castagna, who beat Holy Cross goalie Thomas Gale with a backhander to the short side.

The goal was Castagna's 6th of the season.

Neither team scored over the final three-plus minutes and the game went to OT tied 2-2.

With just over a minute left in the overtime, Holy Cross' Jack Ricketts scored after gaining control of a bouncing puck in the neutral zone and scored himself on a breakaway to give the Crusaders the win.

Defenseman Hunter Toale (Coral Springs, Fla.) fed a quick pass to Matt Gosiewski (Stamford, Conn.) along the right-hand boards. Gosiewski then dropped a pass off to Merritt, who fired a quick shot from the right faceoff dot that beat Gale to his stick side.

Holy Cross took a 2-1 lead on a goal by left wing Devin Phillips at 8:03 of the 3rd period after he jammed in a rebound off a shot that Hasley saved by Liam McLinskey.
