Bentley Scores Six in Second Straight Game, Defeats Niagara 6-1 for Series Sweep

LEWISTON, N.Y. – Bentley scored six goals for the second straight game for a 6-1 victory over Niagara on Saturday night. The win completed the series sweep for the Falcons.

Six different players scored for Bentley. Freshman Nicholas Niemo (Middlebury, Vt.) had a game high four points, with one goal and three assists.

Sophomore Danny Pearson (Vancouver, B.C.) had a goal as well, one night after he had a hat trick in Friday's victory.

The scoring got started early on, as freshman Arlo Merritt (Halifax, Nova Scotia) lit the lamp at the 5:31 mark of the first period. That was his first career goal after he redirected a pass from Niemo that came from along the boards.

Bentley took that 1-0 lead into the second period and they added to it when Pearson continued his torrid weekend with his fourth goal of the series at 7:51. This one came on the power play when he fired home a shot from the right faceoff dot, off the rebound from a shot from Matt Gosiewski (Stamford, Conn.)

Niagara got on the board with a goal by Carter Randklev at the 14:06 mark to make it 2-1, but Bentley closed the period strong with a goal by Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) at 17:55. Kodsi tipped in a shot by Marcus Walter (St. Albert, Alberta) that came from the point.

With a 3-1 lead in the third period, Bentley continued to score to put the game away.

Defenseman Hunter Toale (Coral Springs, Fla.) scored his first career goal at the 6:06 mark after he jumped on a loose puck in front of the net to give Bentley a 4-1 edge.

Six minutes elapsed before the next goal, and this one was scored by Niemo on an empty net from Bentley's defensive zone to make it 5-1.

Freshman Stephen Castagna (North Vancouver, B.C.) finished the scoring at 17:23 with his second of the weekend, assisted by Niemo and Merritt.

Falcons goalie Connor Hasley, who was playing just minutes away from his hometown of North Tonawanda, made 26 saves to earn the win.
