Desbiens Named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley senior forward Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15.

Desbiens had a hand in both Bentley goals in the team's 2-2 tie at Dartmouth last Thursday. He assisted on Will Garin's power play goal in the 2nd period to cut Dartmouth's lead to 2-1. Desbiens then scored on the power play with 2:05 left in the 3rd period to send the game to overtime 2-2.

It was the second straight season he scored a late, game tying goal against Dartmouth. In last season's meeting at Bentley Arena, he scored with just 19 seconds remaining to tie the game 3-3, which is how it ended in overtime.

It's the second time Desbiens has been named the AHA Player of the Week in his career. The other time was in November of the 2017-18 season. This season he has three goals and nine assists to rank 2nd on the team with 12 points. For his career, the Montreal native has 39 goals and 45 assists for 84 points.

The tie with Dartmouth sent Bentley into the semester break with a 4-1-1 record in the last six games, and with a 7-9-1 mark overall. The team will return from the break on Dec. 28-29 for a series at Sacred Heart.
