Jago Nominated for Hobey Baker Award Fan Ballot

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley University senior defenseman and team captain Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) is on the fan ballot for the 2019 Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in Division I men's hockey.

The first phase of fan voting for the Hobey has begun, and will continue through Sunday March 10. Fans can vote at the following link: Hobey Baker Fan Vote

This season Jago is Bentley's second leading scorer with 16 points, which is 6th most in Atlantic Hockey among defensemen. The Manitoba native is Atlantic Hockey's active leader in career games played (134) among defensemen, and is second in both assists (59) and points (74).

Earlier this season, he was named one of just 15 student-athletes in Division I men's hockey to be named a candidate for the Senior CLASS award, which recognizes student-athletes who excel in the areas of  community, classroom, character and competition

Criteria for the Hobey Baker Award includes candidates that exhibit the exceptional character traits of the award's namesake, Hobey Baker. Award candidates must demonstrate strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.  

Over the rest of the season, the top-10 finalists for the Hobey will be announced on March 20. The Hobey Hat Trick of three finalists will be revealed on April 4, and the winner on April 12 during the Frozen Four Championship in Buffalo.
